The CIRCLE second 6-month meeting

On the 18th and 19th of March, the second CIRCLE 6-month meeting took place. The meeting was hosted by Davines at their headquarters in Parma, Italy and in this second General Assembly project partners had the chance to present project progress to fellow consortium members.

Over the first day of the meeting, TripleW presented a brief review of project progress over the past six months and provided details on the engineering of the flagship facility and the importance of front-end engineering design (FEED), minimizing risk while optimizing results. TripleW also shared some of the work performed during the basic engineering project. Renewi presented the existing infrastructure of the flagship plant, and what will be added as part of the CIRCLE project to produce the lactic acid and how the processes complement each other. Sulzer shared the activities performed to produce the first batch of PLA from lactic acid provided by TripleW. ETAM presented the Dissemination and Communication activities realized including the toolkit to be used by all partners.

Over the second day of the meeting, TripleW gave a short presentation on the Demo 2.0 facility to illustrate the work performed before the start of the project and why it is critical to the Flagship Project’s success. ICONS ran a workshop on stakeholder mapping categorized into Civil Society, Industry, Government, and Academia. Partners were tasked with expanding the map and placing each entity on an interest/influence matrix according to its relationship with CIRCLE. The result of the workshop will serve as the basis for stakeholder engagement activities throughout the project.
