CIRCLE featured at the International Workshop on Social Life Cycle Assessment

On 16 June, Kveloce hosted an international online workshop on LinkedIn titled “Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) within the Safe and Sustainable by Design Framework”. The event gathered around 65 professionals from across Europe working in more than 40 organisations. The event, hosted online only, was held to address the social dimension of sustainability, with a focus on the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework, which integrates sustainable and safe criteria into circular processes.

The CIRCLE project took part in the workshop, proud to be at the forefront of innovation by aligning approaches, sharing best practices, and exploring ways to enhance social assessments across all stages of sustainable value chains – from raw materials, through treatment processes, to final products.

CIRCLE was represented by Yasmine Zaki Abdelaziz from ICONS Innovation Strategies, who joined the discussion as a guest speaker. In her presentation, Yasmine highlighted the project’s contribution to advancing social innovation through initiatives like CIRCLE.

Her intervention enriched the dialogue on integrating social impact into design frameworks, in line with the workshop’s emphasis on fostering sustainable and responsible innovation. The event also provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, visibility, and networking, while underlining CIRCLE’s role in shaping innovative approaches to sustainability.

The workshop marked an important first step in building ongoing collaboration among key actors within the SSbD ecosystem. One of the most prominent conclusions was the proposal to establish a stable network to promote methodological convergence, identify knowledge gaps, and facilitate technical exchange between projects and institutions – an initiative in which CIRCLE is eager to collaborate.
